블랙박스 라운지는 설치되는 작품에 따라 다양한 해석이 가능한 공간입니다. 블랙박스 라운지 프로젝트의 첫 작가로 선정된 토비아스 레베르거는 지각과 인식의 과정, 시간성과 일시성, 불연속성과 모호함을 주제로 작업해오면서 2009년 베니스 비엔날레 카페테리아에서 처음으로 위장 무늬 (camouflage patterns)를 이용한 작업을 선보였고, 황금사자상을 수상하였습니다. 이 작품은 그 연장선상에 있는 작업으로써 약 200평 넓이의 블랙박스 라운지를 새롭게 변화시켰습니다. - 작품명: 하늘 저편을 돌아 보았을 때, 그곳은 푸름뿐이었다 (When I See the Other Side of Heaven, It Is Just as Blue.)

이음파트너스는 삼성미술관과 토비야스 레베르거, 삼우설계와 공동 작업으로 환상적이고 특별한 공간을 탄생시켰습니다. 이 작업을 위해서 우리는 그 동안 시도해보지 않았던 여러 가지 새로운 실험과 테스트를 반복 하였습니다. 그 결과, 불규칙한 스트라이프 패턴, 위장 무늬로 덮인 유리장, 기하학적인 형태의 가구, 다채로운 색상 등 어느 것 하나도 한 치의 어긋남 없이 공간에서 조화롭게 구현할 수 있었습니다. 그래픽과 앵글의 변화에 따라 세심하게 면을 맞추고 조합했으며, 시트를 보호하기 위한 특수 코팅을 진행하여 장기간 유지관리까지 고려하여 완성하였습니다.

The Black Box Lounge is a 7,116 sq. ft. space that exists as a functional exhibit. It immerses the spectator directly into the work to experience art on a personal level. Tobias Rehberger was selected as the first artist to transform this space. Rehberger had received the coveted Golden Lion Award for his 2009 project in the Venice Biennale cafeteria, in which he used camouflage inspired patterns to create ambiguity, discontinuity, and to impede the process of recognition. His work in the Black Box Lounge is a continuation of that project, and is called, “When I See the Other Side of Heaven, It Is Just as Blue.”

YiEUM Partners, Inc., the Samsung Museum of Art, Tobias Rehberger, and Sunwoo A&E collaborated to create this unique space. Due to the irregular patterns, bold colors, geometric furniture, and the variety of materials used, we conducted may tests and experiments to find the best possible applications to create and preserve the integrity of the design for years to come. All graphics and angles were meticulously and harmoniously aligned without deviation from Rehberger’s original design.
